Edexcel IGCSE tutoring in Qatar: what families in Doha should know

Many British-curriculum schools in Doha teach Pearson Edexcel International GCSE. Which specifications Marlbridge teaches online, how class times work from Qatar, fees and the free trial.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is one of the most common qualifications in Doha’s British-curriculum schools, often taught alongside Cambridge IGCSE. When a student needs help in one subject, the first thing to get right is the specification: an Edexcel paper is not a Cambridge paper, and a tutor should be teaching the one your child will sit.

Which Edexcel specifications Marlbridge teaches

Marlbridge teaches these Pearson Edexcel International GCSE specifications live online:

And, after IGCSE, Edexcel International A Level in subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Business. Each course page lists every topic, how the papers are weighted and the official specification link.

To check which specification your child takes, look at the front page of a past paper or a school report: Edexcel International GCSE codes start with a 4 (for example 4MA1), while Cambridge IGCSE codes start with a 0 (for example 0580).

Class times from Qatar

Qatar is two hours behind Lahore all year; neither country changes its clocks. A 5:00 pm class in Doha is 7:00 pm in Lahore. Group class times are agreed with the families in each group before the trial; one-to-one classes can be arranged at a time that suits you.

Every class is taught live online by a named subject teacher from our academy in Lahore. Marlbridge has no office, branch or teacher in Qatar.

How fees work

  • Group classes have a set Qatar fee in riyals, per subject per month.
  • One-to-one classes are charged per class. The riyal figure is an indicative conversion of the Pakistan fee, confirmed in writing before any payment.
  • IB Diploma and MYP tuition is one-to-one only.

The Qatar page shows the current fees, discounts and a table of Doha and Lahore class times.

Not taught: the Qatari national curriculum, Indian CBSE or ICSE, and the American curriculum or Advanced Placement (AP).

Getting the most from a trial class

  1. Tell us the exact specification (for example Edexcel 4MA1 Mathematics A) and, for a tiered subject such as 4MA1, whether your child is entered for Foundation or Higher tier.
  2. Bring a recent test or mock paper, so the teacher can see where marks are being lost.
  3. Print the course’s topic checklist and mark the topics your child finds hard; the first classes can start there.

The free trial class runs in the format you are considering, group or one-to-one, and there is no registration fee. Families elsewhere in the Gulf can read how online tuition works from the UAE or see the Gulf page.
