OxfordAQA International AS and A-level Economics (9640)

Marlbridge's summary of the course

Reflecting recent developments in international economics, this International AS/A-level specification places an emphasis on behavioural economics, the importance of financial markets, inequality within and between countries, and environmental issues.

The board's own description is on the official OxfordAQA syllabus page.

AS content covers the operation of markets, market failure and the role of government, plus the national economy in a global environment; A2 adds business behaviour and the distribution of income, and economic development and the global environment, with a quantitative skills strand running throughout. AS content is 50% of the A-level content but contributes 40% of the final marks (A2 the remaining 60%); AS and A2 can be taken across two years or together at the end. First teaching September 2020; first AS exams May/June 2021; first A-level exams May/June 2022.
