The qualification
OxfordAQA International AS and A-level Mathematics (9660)
This qualification has a strong emphasis on pure mathematics to equip students for undergraduate study. — OxfordAQA, official syllabus page
A modular qualification built from four units: two AS units (Pure Maths, and Pure Maths with Statistics and Mechanics) and two A2 units (further Pure Maths, plus a choice of a Statistics or a Mechanics option). The AS units can be certificated as a stand-alone International AS award or carried forward, each worth 20% of the full A-level; units can be resat any number of times with the best result counted. First teaching September 2017; first AS exams May/June 2018; first A-level exams May/June 2019.
Specifications change between examination series. Always confirm the current syllabus and assessment structure on the OxfordAQA syllabus page for your examination year.

| P1: AS Paper 1 -- Unit P1: Pure Maths | 1h 30m | 80 | 20% | Written exam |
| PSM1: AS Paper 2 -- Unit PSM1: Pure Maths, Statistics and Mechanics | 1h 30m | 80 | 20% | Written exam |
| P2: A-level Paper 1 -- Unit P2: Pure Maths | 2h 30m | 120 | 37.5% | Written exam |
| S2: A-level Paper 2 (Option A) -- Unit S2: Statistics | 1h 30m | 80 | 22.5% * | Written exam |
| M2: A-level Paper 2 (Option B) -- Unit M2: Mechanics | 1h 30m | 80 | 22.5% * | Written exam |
* Candidates sit one of the components marked with an asterisk, not all of them.
Source: official OxfordAQA specification, verified 2026-08-28. Directly confirmed against the official live "Assessment" section: a modular qualification of four units. Two AS units (P1, PSM1) each worth 50% of AS-level/20% of A-level; one compulsory A2 unit (P2, 37.5% of A-level); and a final A2 unit chosen between Statistics (S2) or Mechanics (M2), each worth 22.5% of A-level, modeled here with alternativeGroup since the two options are mutually exclusive and equally weighted. Units resittable any number of times, best result counts. First teaching September 2017; first AS exams May/June 2018; first A-level exams May/June 2019.
