The qualification

OxfordAQA International GCSE Pakistan Studies (9236)

With a unique and modern syllabus, our International GCSE Pakistan Studies course offers students a thorough understanding of Pakistan's human and physical geography and its people's experiences throughout history and in recent times. — OxfordAQA, official syllabus page

Paper 1 covers the Pakistan Movement (1857-1947) and Pakistan into the 21st century, with a choice between Islam in the subcontinent or the Mughal Empire; Paper 2 covers landscape and natural resources and people and economy, with a choice between globalisation and transport or a sustainable future. Two equally weighted written papers, no coursework. First examined May/June 2026 onwards. OxfordAQA does not offer Pakistan Studies at AS or A-level — International GCSE is the only level offered.
