Assessment components for Cambridge Statistics 0479
Component Duration Marks Weighting Type
Paper 1: Paper 1 2h 15m 100 50% Written exam
Paper 2: Paper 2 2h 15m 100 50% Written exam

Source: official Cambridge specification, verified 2026-08-28. Directly confirmed against the official PDF (Assessment overview p.9, Details of the assessment p.18): both papers are untitled beyond "Paper 1"/"Paper 2" in the syllabus itself, each 2h15/100 marks/50%, questions of mixed length and style drawn from any part of the subject content, a calculator required (algebraic/graphical calculators not permitted), essential working must be shown. Both externally assessed. Not tiered; grades A*-G. The syllabus states explicitly: "This is a new syllabus for first examination in 2027" -- Version 1, published September 2024, only the June series is available. As of this verification date (2026-08-28) this syllabus has not yet had its first live sitting; it is the ONLY edition of 0479 ever published (there is no separate earlier "current" spec it replaces), so specStatus is recorded as 'current' rather than 'future' (see the field's own doc comment for why). firstAssessment and finalAssessment are both set to 2027 since only a single exam year is currently published; this record should be re-checked for a successor edition when next touched.
