Assessment structure

Assessment components for Cambridge Islamiyat 0493
Component Duration Marks Weighting Type
Paper 1: The Qur'an and the Prophet 1h 30m 50 50% Written exam
Paper 2: Hadith and Islamic History 1h 30m 50 50% Written exam

Source: official Cambridge specification, verified 2026-08-26. Both papers compulsory (grades A*-G), 1h30 each, 50 marks each. The syllabus does not print an explicit % weighting per paper; the 50/50 split is a direct arithmetic consequence of two compulsory papers each carrying an equal 50 of 100 total marks, not an estimate. Paper titles here are a descriptive summary of each paper's content (Paper 1: Qur'an/Prophet/first Islamic community; Paper 2: Hadith/Caliphs/Articles of Faith) -- the syllabus itself labels them only 'Paper 1' and 'Paper 2'. Answers given in English.
