Assessment structure
Linear qualification
| Component | Duration | Marks | Weighting | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper 1: Paper 1 | 1h 30m | 50 | 50% | Written exam |
| Paper 2: Paper 2 | 1h 30m | 50 | 50% | Written exam |
Source: official Cambridge specification, verified 2026-10-04. Directly confirmed against the official PDF (Syllabus overview, p.8-9), which labels the papers only 'Paper 1' (the Qur'an, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the first Islamic community) and 'Paper 2' (the Hadiths, the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and the Articles of Faith and Pillars of Islam): candidates must take Paper 1 and Paper 2, each 1.5 hours / 50 marks (five questions, Question 1 and Question 2 compulsory plus two more chosen), no explicit percentage stated by the board but the two equal-mark papers are therefore 50%/50% of the total. Both externally assessed, not tiered, answered in English. The syllabus PDF previously cited (635787, window 2024-2025) had lapsed; this record and the matching syllabus record were both corrected to the current 2026-2027 edition (697279) in the same update. Examination-series window 2026-2027 (June and November series); no separate first-teaching date published.
