The qualification

OxfordAQA International GCSE English Literature (9275)

This International GCSE qualification takes a skills-based approach to the study of English literature that is consistent across the genres. So whatever your students' interests, you can be sure that the course will develop skills in independent research and learning and provide invaluable preparation for higher level study. — OxfordAQA, official syllabus page

Two routes are offered: Route A (two exam papers on Prose and Drama, then Poetry and Unseen Texts) and Route B (the same Prose and Drama paper, a shorter Poetry paper, plus a teacher-assessed, board-moderated non-exam assessment). This specification is being revised for first teaching September 2026 with a refreshed set-text and poetry list; the current set texts and papers remain live for cohorts already underway, with final exams May/June 2027 and final resits November 2027. Students starting from September 2026 follow the revised set-text list.
