The qualification

OxfordAQA International AS and A-level English Literature (9675)

This International AS and A-level English Literature specification encourages the independent study of a range of texts within a shared context, giving logic and meaning to the way that texts are grouped for study. — OxfordAQA, official syllabus page

Four units run from Elizabethan/Jacobean and later dramatic tragedy, through prose and poetry, to a selection of crime and mystery-themed texts at A2, with the final unit offered as either an unseen-texts exam or two teacher-assessed, board-moderated essays. AS is separately certificated or carried forward at 20% per unit toward the full A-level. First teaching September 2017; first AS exams May/June 2018; first A-level exams May/June 2019.

Source: official OxfordAQA specification, verified 2026-08-28. Directly confirmed against the official live "Assessment" section: a modular qualification of four papers with two routes for the final unit, structurally identical to English Language 9670. Two AS papers (20% of A-level each) and one compulsory A2 paper (Elements of Crime and Mystery, 30%) are followed by EITHER an exam-based Literary Representations paper (Route A) OR a two-essay Non-Exam Assessment (Route B), each also 30%. The specification is being revised for first teaching from 2027 with a refreshed set-text list; the board's own page states the paper structure, timings, marks and weightings are unchanged by this revision, so one record covers both text-list eras. Flagging a discrepancy on the source page itself, disclosed rather than silently resolved: the introductory summary states the current (pre-revision) text list has "final AS exams in May/June 2027, final A2 exams in May/June 2028," while the page's own "Syllabus summary and text list" section states, for the same current cohort, "final AS exams in January 2028, final A2 exams in October/November 2028" -- these two statements on the same live page do not agree, and neither could be confirmed as the typo without contacting the board directly.
