AQA AS Business (7137)

Marlbridge's summary of the course

AQA AS Business (7137) is AQA's reformed AS specification, replacing 7131, sharing its subject content with the first two units of AQA A-level Business (7138).

The board's own description is on the official AQA syllabus page.

For first teaching from September 2026; first AS exams June 2027. Replaces 7131, which was last examined in summer 2026. AS Paper 1 assesses the AS content in Unit 3.1 (What is business? Managing marketing and finance) and AS Paper 2 the AS content in Unit 3.2 (Managing people and operations), the first two units of the A-level Business (7138) content.

Paper 1 (Business 1): Section A 10 MCQs (10 marks), Section B short-answer (approx. 20 marks), Section C two data-response stimuli with questions (approx. 25 marks). Paper 2 (Business 2): one compulsory case study, approx. seven questions. Total 160 marks. AQA's own subject page carries a live banner stating this specification is 'outgoing' – a replacement (7137) has been accredited for first teaching September 2026, and 7131 was examined for the last time in summer 2026. Recorded here as withdrawn (replaced by 7137), since its final AS series has passed and 7137 has been taught from September 2026. First teaching September 2023, first AS assessment June 2024, final AS assessment June 2026.
