OxfordAQA International GCSE History (9245)
Marlbridge's summary of the course
A truly international specification, which engages students with modern international relations, relevant and contemporary themes and perspectives, and long-term global historical developments.
The board's own description is on the official OxfordAQA syllabus page.
Paper 1 offers a choice of International Relations depth studies and origins/development studies; Paper 2 offers a choice of a study of societies in change and a thematic study in either technology or medicine. Paper 1 Section A is assessed on sources, including a pre-released booklet of three sources (specification Version 1.1). OxfordAQA publishes this qualification as International GCSE History; Marlbridge groups it under World History alongside the equivalent offering from other boards. A newly launched specification: first teaching 2026, first examined May/June 2028. OxfordAQA does not offer History at AS or A-level.
