Weighting and duration are read directly from the official public subject brief (first assessments 2019); mark totals for Paper 1 (Higher Level, 60 marks) and Paper 2 (both tiers, 50 marks) are read directly from the official freely public specimen-papers PDF, directly fetched and read this session. Paper 1 Standard Level (40 marks), Paper 3 Higher Level (28 marks) and the Internal Assessment (25 marks, both tiers) were independently corroborated against a current, actively maintained third-party IB revision resource rather than confirmed inside the same specimen document, whose extractable text did not reach those sections; both sources agree exactly where they overlap (Paper 1 Higher Level and Paper 2, both tiers). Standard Level sits two of seven optional themes plus the compulsory core theme (Global Change) plus fieldwork; Higher Level sits three optional themes, the same core theme, an HL-only extension paper on global interactions, and the same fieldwork investigation (re-weighted). The Internal Assessment is a single written report based on a fieldwork investigation, internally assessed by the teacher and externally moderated by the IB, with no fixed sitting duration.
